Acadian weavers were famous for their cotonnade, using it for everything from clothing to bedding and finally to rags. Il n'y a pas fin de cotonnade (there is no end to cotonnade)!  Though the entirety of the Acadian textile tradition is two harness weaving (plain weave), these creative weavers came up with endless stripe variety using traditional Acadian colors-white cotton, brown cotton, and shades of indigo. When cotonnades reached the end of their usefulness, they were sewn into cotonnade quilts. There are only a handful of cotonnade quilts left today and they were the back bone of my research into preserving as many patterns as I could find. Cotonnade has not been readily available in 100 years, but I am happy to be the only weaver currently making this cloth exactly as the old weavers did. These towels are equally at home as an heirloom piece paying homage to the old weavers as they are hanging in your kitchen in regular use.

~22" x 30"

*The weft color changes are carried up the side in the traditional manner. If the loops bother you, they can be cut off flush with the selvedge.

Cool or warm wash, line dry recommended.
